Short note

A mentalist
at your wedding?

In one paragraph

When guests have time to spare

A mentalist suits a wedding whenever guests have time to spare and attention to give, such as during the drinks reception. With a small party, it can begin at the ceremony itself, for everyone at once. Between the courses at dinner it works less well, because the next course can arrive at any moment, and on the dance floor, naturally, not at all.

For the couple

No time for everyone

At a wedding, two families come together, along with friends who have often never met. The only two people who know everyone are the two of you, and you're precisely the two who won't have time for all your guests on the day. Mentalism gives guests who don't know each other something to talk about together.

Three options

Among the guests, at a table, or together

With Walking, I move among the guests and perform for one small group at a time. With Seated, I'm at a fixed table, and anyone who wants to see it comes and sits down, either out of curiosity or because I've asked them over. 20 guests or 200: there's no fixed limit, and with a large party I work alongside fellow mentalists. What to weigh up when choosing between Walking and Seated is covered in a separate note.

The third option is a single performance for the whole group, and it can also serve as the ceremony. A ceremony already has the layout such a performance needs: everyone seated, in rows, facing the front. It ties in with the theme of the day. So far I've performed it for groups of up to about thirty guests.

The three can also be combined, at different points in the day.

Start with your running order

Send me a short email with your date, the venue, the number of guests and the running order as it stands. I'll tell you which moments would work and which option suits them. If mentalism doesn't fit your day, I'll tell you that too.
